Instructor Information

Travis Beck
Travis is the Director of Horticulture at Mt. Cuba Center and holds a master's degree in Horticulture from Ohio State University. He is a registered landscape architect and author of Principles of Ecological Landscape Design, which applies current scientific thinking to the design and management of sustainable landscapes.

Mark Gormel
Mark is the Horticultural Coordinator for the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art. He is a nature photographer, frequent lecturer, and native plant consultant who specializes in the design, installation, and management of native plant meadows.

Claudia West
Claudia is a leading voice in the field of ecological planting design and a principal of Phyto Studio, a landscape architecture firm dedicated to crafting artistic and technical solutions for the next green revolution. She is the coauthor of Planting in a Post-Wild World and advocates for the use of American native plants in our landscapes. Claudia holds a Master's Degree of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from the Technical University of Munich, Germany.
George Coombs
George is the Director of Horticulture at Mt. Cuba Center. Previously he was Manager of Research at the Center in which he trialed cultivars and species of native plants to determine their horticultural and ecological value.
